Fish is one of the healthiest staples in the human diet. Salmon, in particular, contains omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B, vitamin D, and plenty of protein! Omega-3 fatty acids are extremely important for child development, and promote a healthy heart in people of all ages. Vitamin B is responsible for keeping the nervous system healthy, and is thought to fight off the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Vitamin D is known for preventing disease. Protein is used throughout the entire body for building and repairing many different tissues. With all of these benefits, why not choose to consume salmon?
I usually make salmon about once per week, so I have discovered a few different ways to cook it for my family. The most common recipe I go for is a baked honey and soy sauce glazed salmon. Thirty-five minutes is all it takes to have this ready, start to finish!
First, I preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I start with a fresh salmon fillet in a small glass baking dish. Next, I sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper directly onto the fish. Then, I mix together one teaspoon each of honey and lime juice, and one tablespoon of soy sauce (I use reduced-sodium). Pour this all over the fillet. That’s it! Those are all of the ingredients! Now the salmon needs to bake for about thirty minutes.
I love to serve my salmon with brown rice and asparagus, but you can certainly serve yours with your own favorite sides. This is one of my daughter’s favorites, and it makes me so happy to know that I am serving her something that will benefit her body and mind. I hope you all enjoy this as much as my family does!
