On New Year’s Eve it is acceptable to dress yourself up like no other night of the year. This is one of the few occasions when I wear a full face of makeup with lashes and all! To give you some ideas, I made a step-by-step video that can hopefully help you out!
First, I always prime my (clean, moisturized) skin to get it ready for makeup. Today I used e.l.f. Tone Adjusting Face Primer to eliminate the redness and minimiza my pores.
When I am doing a heavy eye makeup look, I like to start with my eyes in case I have any fallout or mistakes from eye shadow. I began by priming my eyelids with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair. Next, I applied tape from the outer corner of my eye, up to the end of my eyebrow. This helps to keep a straight line, and is extremely useful when applying winged liner. I then used my Morphe 35W palette for all of my eye shadows. I topped the center of my lid off with LA Colors Shimmering Loose Eyeshadow in Sunshine. I used the Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner in Garnet by Stila, and followed the line created by the tape. If you make any mistakes you can always use a cotton ball or makeup wipe to clean up the line. Off camera, I applied a thin layer of mascara (Loreal Telescopic) and a set of false lashes (Ardell Wispies). I have to get pretty close to the mirror for lashes, so it was much easier to apply them without recording.
For my eyebrows I used Anastasia Brow Powder in caramel and e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit in Medium.
After finishing with my eyes, I began on my face makeup. This is honestly my favorite part of doing my makeup! I already primed my face in the beginning, so there is no need to repeat that step again. I applied Loreal Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Golden to give my skin a natural-looking glow. Then, I applied my Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation in Natural Beige. I blended my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer under my eyes, as well as on the center of my face to give dimension. I set the concealer with NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder to make sure the makeup will stay put for hours.
Next, I used the e.l.f. Foundation Palette in Medium to contour my cheekbones, and blended this out with Maybelline Fit Me Set+Smooth Powder in Coconut. The blush I put on my cheeks was Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore. I then highlighted the high points of my face with MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish.
Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Veronica is the perfect lip color to compliment the purple tone of this look. With that, the look is complete and only took me about 20 minutes! You can try some of these techniques with your own spin by choosing the eye shadow and lip colors you like best.
I hope you enjoy this makeup look!
With Love, Jeni
