DIY Personalized Christmas Stockings

I’m normally pretty nonchalant with the Christmas decorations – we have a tree up, small decorations here and there, but nothing too fancy or elaborate by any means! With a brand new baby boy on the way, I wanted to do something a little different for our family stockings. We usually all just pick one and have all different colors, shapes and sizes. However, I wanted to try a simple, but cute, way to make our stockings all go together without matching exactly.

What I came up with is Christmas colored knit stockings and DIY wooden letter clips to attach to each one. I decided to use pins instead of attaching the letters permanently to the stockings, just in case someone decides they want a new color stocking next year! I also made two smaller stockings for our dogs, Bentley & Bella.

First, I ordered the stockings I wanted from Amazon. The ones I chose are green, red, and white 15″ stockings ( listed here: https://amzn.to/2QgWyUR ). I probably would go with the 18″ option if I could re-do this, but that’s all about personal preference.

Next, I went to Walmart and picked up some small wooden letters and bar pins to glue to the back of each letter. The letters I chose are about 4 inches long and are painted a distressed white – and they were under $1 each! The bar pins were $2 and included 40 pins, so there will be plenty left over for other projects.

Finally, I hot-glued one pin to the back of each letter, then pinned the letters on the stockings. Ta-da! That’s it! It was such a simple task, but so worth it to have a set of adorable family stockings!

If you’re in the market for some new personalized Christmas stockings, I hope you’ll try this easy little DIY hack! I love that they are customizable so you can add your own style to them. If you decide you want glitter letters, then just sprinkle it on and finish the process! Whatever you have in mind, you can pretty much accomplish it by adding your own flare to this simple design. Enjoy your creation & HAVE FUN!
