Pregnancy Hospital Bag Checklist

As I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy, I have finally begun my final preparations for our new baby boy. Nursery, bottles, blankets, clothes… the list goes on and on – but, one of the most important things that I have to get ready is my hospital bag. This bag must contain all of my normal daily necessities, as well as items that I may or may not need, depending on how childbirth goes.

I am planning for an induction at 39 weeks, but you truly never know what may happen when it comes to labor & delivery! I could potentially go into labor unexpectedly on my own before then, or I could end up having to get a c-section for various reasons. With that being said, I still must be prepared for whatever situation may arise. I am going to have my bag packed and ready to go by the time I hit 36 weeks, just in case we have any surprises!

  • 2 nursing bras
  • 2 nursing tops/tanks
  • 2 large t-shirts
  • sweatshirt/hoodie
  • 3 pair of black loose-fitting pants/leggings
  • 6 pair of cotton panties
  • 2 pair of socks
  • robe
  • slippers/slides
  • 1 long maxi dress for going home (in case of c-section)

  • shampoo & conditioner
  • body wash
  • face wash/moisturizer
  • coconut oil (I use this for all over body moisturizer, as well as for breastfeeding)
  • toothbrush/toothpaste
  • deodorant
  • lip balm
  • hair ties
  • brush/comb
  • nursing pads
  • prenatal vitamins

If your hospital does not provide these items, I highly recommend buying your own:

  • Dermoplast spray
  • witch hazel pads
  • maxi pads / Depends
  • peri bottle

Other Items:

  • ID, insurance info, etc.
  • phone / charger
  • headphones
  • SNACKS: nuts, granola bars, Gatorade, etc.
  • pillow & blanket
  • breastfeeding pillow
  • camera/charger

This list may seem like it is a bit excessive, but I personally would rather be over-prepared than be missing something later!

These are just the items needed for you, and not for baby. Soon, I will be writing a list all about baby essentials for the hospital as well. You definitely will need more items than baby will though, so do not get overwhelmed with the thought of packing another huge bag!

Good Luck, Mama!

And so it was that she having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained what God had promised. – Hebrews 6:15

With Love, Jeni
